Calm one-to-one dog grooming

Your dog, groomed gently... at their own pace.

Comfort-led grooming for nervous, senior and much-loved dogs. One at a time, and never rushed.

The comfort-led difference

One dog at a time. No cages. No rush.

Some dogs find grooming hard. The noise, the strangers, being handed over and left... it's a lot to ask of them. So I do things differently. Just one dog in the studio at a time, working slowly and calmly, stopping whenever your dog needs a moment. Patient, one-to-one care until they feel settled.

The quiet difference

Hi, I'm Andrea

I'm a mam, a wife, and Molly's owner... she's the little face behind Cosy Coat and the reason it all began. She taught me how much a calm, patient pair of hands really matters to a dog.

I hold a City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming... the gold standard here in the UK, and something most groomers never train for. I'm also qualified in canine first aid, so your dog is in genuinely capable, careful hands from the first hello to the last brush.

Built around your dog's comfort

I've set the studio up to make grooming as easy as possible for your dog. The tables and bath lower right down to near ground level, so your dog can step on or walk straight in... no lifting, no nervous heights. It's gentler on senior dogs, on anxious dogs, and on anyone who finds being picked up a bit much.

For dogs who struggle to stand, I also have supportive slings that take the weight off their legs, so even a longer groom stays comfortable.

What I offer

Calm grooming, tailored to your dog

Bath & brush

A gentle wash, dry and brush out to leave your dog fresh, clean and comfortable.

Full groom

Bath, dry, full clip or trim, nails and finishing touches... unhurried, start to finish.

Puppy's first groom

A soft, positive first experience of grooming. And because a first groom is such a special moment, your puppy goes home with a certificate and their very own paw print to keep.

De-shed treatment

Clears loose undercoat to help your dog feel lighter and cooler in warmer weather.

One-to-one calm care

Extra time and patience for dogs who need to take things slowly.

Nervous & anxious dogs

A calmer option for dogs who find grooming hard

Rescue dogs. Reactive dogs. Dogs who've had a frightening experience somewhere else. They're welcome here, and they're understood. I'll take it slowly, build a little trust, and go at whatever pace your dog needs... even if that means splitting the groom across more than one visit.

In their words

Trusted by local dog owners

A few words from real Google and Facebook reviews, from owners who trusted me with their dogs.

My dog is very anxious and hadn't been groomed for over seven months, after previous groomers didn't understand her needs. Andrea was caring, patient and took her time with Luna. I've never seen my dog so well groomed, and although Luna was anxious, Andrea looked after her as if she were her own dog. It's so nice to finally trust a groomer and be happy with the service.

I honestly can't recommend this groomer highly enough. My 17-week-old golden retriever, Dougie, had his first groom with Andrea and the calm, one-to-one experience made such a difference... he was relaxed and happy throughout. The little touches, like the gift bag and his first groom certificate with a paw print, made it extra special. The salon was so lovely he didn't want to leave.

My 2 boys had a great time at Cosy Coat Studio and they come home looking like a million dollars. Thank you, Andrea!

Brilliant service, my cockapoo Daisy hates being groomed, Andrea has done an amazing job at calming her anxieties about grooming in just 2 sessions, so pleased we found her after our previous groomer retired.

Brodie HATES to be groomed, so naturally I was nervous when I took him to Andrea. Nervous for Andrea, he bites! She completely put us both at ease, she was kind and gentle with Brodie and went at his pace. He was in a real state, we had builders in and he had all of their materials stuck in his coat. Andrea was brilliant! When I went to collect him he was happy, and so was I. I would have no hesitation in recommending Andrea, especially if you have a naughty boy like I have.

Hugo is the most placid pooch, but he really dislikes his hair being cut. I had to carry him into the salon. Andrea is so attentive and put Hugo and me at ease immediately. He looks smart as a dart now. Would definitely recommend.

Carly's Story

Carly's groom was a lovely one. She's an older rescue girl with some age-related weakness, so I kept everything slow, gentle and calm from start to finish. Older dogs often need a little more time, a softer approach and a few breaks along the way, and that's exactly what Carly had. She settled really well and was such a sweet girl to spend time with. It's always a privilege to groom dogs like Carly, especially when you can see how loved they are.

Scout & Skye

Scout came in for a big deshed, ear clean and nail tidy. He's blind, so grooming is all about trust... he listens for my voice and settles once he knows every touch is safe. His little sister Skye had her own groom alongside him, keeping one eye on her big brother the whole time. Days like this are exactly why comfort-led grooming matters.

Dougie's First Groom

Dougie the retriever came in for his very first puppy groom at just five months old, and honestly, I didn't want to give him back. He even helped make the cutest paw print for his My First Groom certificate, snuggled in for a nap while I dried him, and handled everything so well for such a young pup. Welcome to the Cosy Coat family, Dougie.

Questions dog owners ask

My dog gets really nervous at the groomer. Can you still help?

Absolutely... that's exactly what I'm here for. It's just your dog in the studio at a time, so there's no noise or waiting around, and we go at whatever pace they need. If it's kinder to split the groom over more than one visit, that's completely fine.

Do you use cages?

I don't routinely use cages or pens at Cosy Coat. My grooming style is one-to-one, calm, and comfort-led, so dogs stay with me throughout their appointment. However, for health and safety, I do keep a small pen on site. It's only used when absolutely necessary, for example, when sibling dogs need a safe waiting space or if an appointment runs slightly over.

Can I stay with my dog?

For a first visit or a very anxious dog, spending a little time together at the start can really help them settle. Some dogs are actually calmer once their owner slips away, so we'll work out what's best for yours.

How long will a groom take?

It depends on your dog's size, coat and how they're feeling that day. As I only take one dog at a time and never rush, I'll give you a rough idea when you book... and I'd always rather take a little longer than hurry them.

What happens if my dog is matted?

Matting happens to the best-cared-for dogs, so there's never any judgement. If it's mild I'll gently work through it. If it's tight to the skin, a shorter clip is usually the kindest option, and I'll always talk it through with you first.

How often should my dog be groomed?

As a rough guide, every six to eight weeks suits most coats, though some need a little more and some less. Once I've seen your dog I can suggest a routine that fits their breed and coat.

Do you groom puppies?

Yes, and a gentle first experience sets them up for a lifetime of calm grooming. A first groom is a special moment, so your puppy heads home with their own certificate and paw print to keep.
